Most likely it was a male Blackpoll, which strongly resemble chickadees 
and are all over the place around here now.  They don't have a black 
throat or large patch there but do have a noticeable black stripe that 
extends from the side of chest up to the bill. If seen from the side it 
could possibly appear as though the throat were black.

But anything is possible!
