Hi all,
My daughter and I birded/insected at Blue Mash today (she needs a
collection for an entomology lab), finding it rather quiet birdwise. A few migrants of
note: Northern Harrier flying and soaring high witha Red-shouldered Hawk, an
immature Cooper's Hawk stealthily swooping across a field then perch hunting
from a fence (probably a local bird though), adult male Blue Grosbeak
"chinking" from the top of a cedar tree, an immature Rose-breasted Grosbeak, a
nice looking male A. Redstart coming in to check out my pishing, a few Red-eyed
and White-eyed Vireos, a handful of empid flycatchers, a couple of E.
Wood-pewees, Great Crested Flycatcher, and dwindling numbers of swallows (Barn,
Tree and Purple Martin).

We did collect a nice assortment of insects, and watched a marbled orb
weaver catch and spin a small grasshopper, caught on my daughters digital camera.
