As reported by others there has been small numbers but a good diversity of
warblers elsewhere (which I've seen for myself), but migrant warblers have
been strangely absent from the Jug Bay area. Or else they show up on days
when I am not here! I've looked for about two weeks now around my house,
and on a general daily basis have found good numbers and variety of many
neotropic passerine migrants, including tanagers, vireos, thrushes (had my
first VEERY of the season today at the house), orioles, cuckoos, etc. But
except for one warbler today that I saw too briefly and was unable to
identify, the only warblers I've seen that may be migrants were redstarts
which I have seen on many days. They breed here but I have not seen any
since they fledged, and I assume have been migrants.
I am sure the masses of warblers yet to come south will eventually find
the bonanza of insects waiting for them here at Jug Bay!
