Leslie:

I may be pre-empting a reply from Norm - the message length is
actually a potential concern. Norm Saunders (the MDOsprey
operator) archives our messages, to allow searches in the future.
The amount that can be archived is limited by the sum of the
length of all messages. This is why replies should always
severely prune down the previous attached message - something I
sometimes forget to do.

So, long messages should contain birding substance, or be pruned,
too.

Did I get it right, Norm?

All (almost all) postings are interesting, and the circumstances
in which
observations take place may be fascinating, but I especially
appreciate those
that have sightings in an easy-to-read format: a vertical list,
preferably in AOU
order. I know I'm not the only person receiving too much e-mail
with too
little time to read it.

Since we're not using paper, it doesn't matter how long the
message is,
right?

thanks, Leslie Starr
