I visited Great Oaks Pond from 2 to 3:15 PM Tuesday, Oct. 3 with no sign of
the Barnacle Goose or the Greater White-fronted Goose. There were 12 white
and 3 blue morph Snow Geese as well as 2 Cackling Geese. There could have been
more of the latter, but my survey was less than exhaustive. I wonder if the
Barnacle might prefer Eastern Neck.
Of some alarm, I saw two men from a construction company waving their arms in
the direction of the pond, so enjoy it while you can.
