The top of the hill at Ft. Bayard was very birdy this morning, if not
especially diverse--nearly everything was a GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLET. They
were seemingly everywhere, and my conservative count of 15 may be too low.
I did hear at least one RUBY-CROWNED as well.
Again had a YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER--perhaps one of the same ones I saw a
few days ago. I haven't yet determined whether they overwinter in the
neighborhood, but they at least appear to do some extended staging during
migration. Other migrants were a PHOEBE and a passing group of around 8
JUNCOS.
