Subject: Poplar Island Sightings from November 27,  2006

            This report is submitted on behalf of Jan Reese of Talbot
County, who continues to periodically survey the flora and fauna of Poplar
Island. 

            These sightings include the birds seen on Nov 27, 2006.  Some of
the birds were seen from the boat during the trip from Tilghman Island and
back. 
		Weather:  Overcast and hazy fog am & pm ,  Temp range 47-48

** Note from Jan: The most exciting bird for me was the Savannah Sparrow.
The bird was almost invisible on the barren sand substrate, observed at
close range with both binoculars and spotting scope for over 20 minutes, and
no doubt an IPSWICH RACE (formerly Ipswich Sparrow) of this species, a bird
that I have never seen away from the Atlantic coast.
