The hole is growing smaller at Centennial Lake in Columbia, and the waterfowl
variety is going up. The following were present about 1:30 p.m. today.

Canada Geese - uncounted, but several hundred
Mallard - uncounted, not overly abundant
Canvasback - 6
Ring-necked Duck - 63
Lesser Scaup - 5 (first seen by me this winter)
Bufflehead - 1
Ruddy Duck - 1
Coot - 4

The park is open, and all the paved paths, at least around the lake, have been
plowed.
