A few things I wanted to send out tonight. It has been a long day and I
can't thank everyone enough for helping out. We still didn't get so many
important area covered but it happens.
One of the things that I wanted to note for the area I covered, which was
Southern Cecil County which is Cecilton and Earlville. Tom Raub and I had a
flock of Snow geese fly in from Delaware and land in a field on Sassafras
Road and some other surrounding roads .We counted up to 12,239 Snow Geese,
which is the most I have ever had in that area. Although only a few miles
away, I have done that well before in Delaware. I think this is one of the
flocks that does associate with Bombay Hook.
When flying around I did photograph what I think was a Ross's Goose. It is
hard to see the grin patch in the photo, but it is worth noting. I don't
know what is more likely. A hybrid Snow/Ross's, or a Ross's Goose. I have
never seen a hybrid other than Gary Smiley's photo he sent me a while back.
We did end up with 58 species for the day. For as cold as it has been, and
not having any real substantial ducks, that is pretty good. Almost
everything is Iced up.
Pond neck Road was packed full of Sparrows. The Numbers of Fox and Chipping
Sparrows where very surprising for me today. Great numbers of both, but
surprisingly there were no Tree Sparrows.
Birds missed for me that was unusual.
Most Ducks. Ice, Ice baby.
Herring Gull
Hermit Thrush
Catbird
Any Kinglet
Cedar Waxwing
Tree Sparrow
Meadow Lark
If anyone would like to look at the Probable Ross's Goose Photo's, please
