Greetings,

Before I mention today's action, or lack there of, I need to report to out-of
season birds seen yesterday at the Aberdeen Proving Ground in Harford
County. There were Gray Catbird and Great Egret.

Today I chased birds around Harford and Cecil County to no avail. The birds
that I missed included the Clay-colored Sparrow in Havre de Grace, the Red-
headed Woodpecker in Perryville, The Yellow-headed Blackbird in Calvert, and
both non-Canada Goose sp. in Calvert. I did, however find a large Goose Flock
that was too distant to really get a good look at. I also located a large
Blackbird Flock that probably contained the Yellow-headed. It was located on
Wilson Road, just north of the house that reported the western vagrants last
week. This flock was extremely active in the trees and quite agitated by a
resident Red-tailed Hawk. From what I could tell the flock was 99% Grackles
with the remaining 1% consisting of Rusties, Red-wingeds, Starlings, and
exactly TWO Brown-headed Cowbirds...

Best bird of the day (in MD) was five White-crowned Sparrows seen on Wilson
Road.

Pics of the White-crowned Sparrows can be seen here:
