Hi all on Sat 2 - 24 an afternoon check of the Rt 309 pond close to Rt
213 Centreville Maryland held the following Birds
Canada Geese 84
Redhead 10 7 drake 3 female
American Wigeon 11
Green wigecd Teal 2
Mallard 3
Black Duck 2
Ring Necked Duck 29
Lesser Scaup 1
Bald Eagle 1 Immature feeding on a dead Snow Goose in field behind
the pond
Horned Lark 2
No sign of the Hybird Mallard + Black Duck seen on feb 18 here
For general interrest as of now Feb 26 In the results for the Great
Backyard Birdcount Maryland is in 4th place of states reporting the
most individuals . Maryland had 491,261 birds
Coming in at No six for Localities reporting the most birds was
Centreville Maryland In QA county with 90,501 . helped along quite a
bit by the 6,000 Snow Geese , 44,000 Grackles and 40,002 Red Winged
Blackbirds .
If anyone out there who birded between feb 16 thru 19 and has not
reported their list yet there is still time . Data can be entered thru
feb 28 . Maybe we can make no 3 or 2 or dare we dream no 1 . Check out
