Yesterday's outing led by Jay Sheppard to the Patuxent River State Park area
off Annapolis Rock Road found evidence of owls (whitewash and pellets), but
yieled no owl sightings. The group of about 15 birders were rewarded for the
day with a nice show of woodcock after sunset. About 5 were seen flying.
Observers also heard peenting and the sound of the wings.

Just before 5:44pm, the sky filled with clouds and there was no moon, much
less its eclipse, to be seen.
