I looked for the "Eurasian" Green-winged Teal at Pennyfield Lock, C&O Canal, this (Sat., 3/17) morning, but was unable to refind the bird (my second dip on this (sub)species). There were 4 teal present - 1 male Green-winged Teal and 3 Blue-winged Teal (1 male and 2 females).

There were also ducks on the river - Wood Duck, Common & Hooded Mergansers, Bufflehead and Mallard.

Other sightings included 2 American Pipits that landed in the top of a tree(!), Rusty Blackbirds, Tree Swallows (numbers flying low over the river), and a few Fox Sparrows in with all the juncos and White-throated Sparrows.

Good Birding,
