Allegany County was crawling with American Pipits today. I first saw 5 along
Mason Rd. Then another 10 at the terminus in Cumberland. And finally about
30 along the road and in the fields at North Branch. I also saw 1 in
Washington County along the road on Rt 66 just south of the I-70.

Allegany County also had a good number of Eastern Meadowlarks coming
through, with a flock of 15 along Mason Rd and another 10 at North Branch.

The terminus also had 4 Northern Rough-winged Swallows and the previously
reported White-winged Scoter. The only other ducks were a few Bufflehead
and Mallards.

Another spring arrival was an Osprey at Big Pool in Washington County, which
also had 20 Northern Pintail and 10 Green-winged Teal.

Last stop was Blair Valley in Washington County, where 2 American Woodcock
peented at dusk despite the snow and cold. The lake had 10 Hooded
Mergansers.
