Moments ago a pair of Forster's Terns came up Leeds Creek to make a few
dives for us in front of our house. First of the year for this site.
In mid-afternoon today I took a look at the waterfowl that were using
the newest Pickering Creek wetland ponds. Best of the birds were
congregated at the pond farthest west beside Presquile Road.
Species present:
American Coot 18+
Buffleheads 7
Greater Scaup 5
Northern Shoveler 30+
Gadwall 2
Ring-necked Duck 7
Green-winged Teal 88+
Mallard 8
Canada Geese 3 pair nesting
An adult Bald Eagle passed overhead; many Tree Swallows claiming
bird houses; and numerous Song Sparrows in the grassy fields.
