Steve Sanford, Mark Linardi and I (Pete Webb) went to check out the Little Gull action at Back River and struck out at the Royal Farms Store overlook, but struck gold at Diamond Point Road with three adult Little Gulls seen simultaneously in flight, flying low over the water, apparently a feeding behavior.
We also encountered a local businessman who was concerned about possible liability issues with birders on his property. I promised to look into the liability matter and have started to do so, but the encounter reminded me that ALL of the land around Diamond Point Road is private property, and there are legal issues with tresspassing on private property, which is exactly what we were, in fact, doing at the time. The riverside access at the base of the bridge next to the Royal Farms store appears to be common community property and people were fishing there, so that site appears to be alright, but Diamond Point Road is another matter.
It might be feasible to approach the riverfront off Diamond Point Road through a scrubby
little field and adjoining, heavily overgrown woods edge to acces the waterfront there, (which is a route which we did not take on this occasion) with little chance of encountering any land owner, but the legal issues remain.
PW
