I was hoping to spot a YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT HERON at Sycamore Landing
today and it was in its usual spot: at the end of the flooded area on the right
side of the road. Wood ducks and a beautiful great blue heron also in this
forest primieval.
When I got back to River Road, I heard a brown thrasher and parked along the
road. I finally spotted it at the top of a tall tree with an IMMATURE BALD
EAGLE flying overhead.
Along Hunting Quarter Road, a HERMIT THRUSH flushed from the roadside and
then obligingly came back to drink from the puddle and nibble along the road.
At the second parking lot, I thought I'd see if there was anything interesting,
like the yellow-crowned night heron that was here last year. Poof! There
he/she was! A short walk up the path and on the left by the creek.
A great afternoon.
