Bob Ringler's COMMON MOORHEN was present at about 8:30 this morning at the
marshy NW end of Piney Run Lake, off White Rock Road in Carroll County. At that
time it could only be seen by walking out to the tip of a little peninsula in
the marsh and looking across the water toward a stand of fairly tall pines,
maybe 200-300 yards away. I'd left my scope in the car, but was finally able to
get a satisfactory look at the red bill and shield. I did not see the WW
Scoter.
