Hi All,

The time for the May Count on 12 May draws ever closer. I will be
compiling the May Count here in Kent County. It is possible, if we have
thorough coverage of the whole county, to exceed 140 bird species on May
Count. Kent is a varied county ranging from the Chester River on the
south with it's fringe of loblolly pine and oak in the southwest to the
largely hardwood forests of the Sassafras Valley in the north and the
oak-hickory-Virginia pine woods of Millington on the east. The best
waterbirding is in southwestern Kent County, but the best warblers and
other songbirds are to be found in the Millington/Golts area. We would
like to field at least four parties this spring. Let me know if you
would like to participate and where you might be interested in counting
(sorry but we can't manage to put everybody at Eastern Neck). My contact
information appears below in my signature block. Thanks for your
attention, and I hope some of you will be able to count come the twelfth.

Good Birding,

Walter Ellison
