Thanks, Saundra, for getting the list out--I've been so busy since the walk; haven't had a chance!

A couple species to add to the list: Savannah and Song Sparrows.

The previous day we did a short walk at a location nearby at BARC and saw the following:

Ring-necked ducks
Blue-winged teal
Ruddy ducks
Lesser scaup
Bufflehead (2)
Wood ducks
Mallards
Canada goose
Wilson's snipe (4) being chased by a red-winged blackbird and also displaying
E. Meadowlark (2)
Brown thrashers (thrashing about in the bushes and being very noisy)
Tree swallows
Barn swallows
Rough-winged swallows
Bald eagles (2) It is not yet clear whether our nesting pair has been successful this year.
Mockingbird
Song sparrow
White-throated sparrow

In a related event, thanks to a request by the Anacostia Watershed Society president, Robert Boone, there was a meeting at BARC today to discuss the possibility of opening up this location for public access. Stay tuned.

In Greenbelt woods on Tuesday morning, the ovenbirds were very active, and the wood thrushes, scarlet tanagers and hooded warblers have returned. Yellow-rumped warblers were everywhere and a cerulean warbler may have been singing. This latter find was very surprising. The singing bird was identified by an old friend of mine who knows his songs quite well. We could not locate the bird but upon returning home we listened to blue-throated and parula songs to compare and cerulean was certainly the closest. I returned to the location Tues evening and Wed morning but did not hear it again.

this a group thing. I was glad to meet many new people . Went to P.V.S.P.

Went to S.W.A.P monday . Checking out the Delaware ave. eagles . Kept
seeing two heads but wasnt getting the white because of the glare. Then an
adult flew in and eventually sat down like maybe it was the mom and i could
see the white very clearly Even took a picture it was so clear . So am
assuming the other two heads were eaglets. Also were 4 Blackcrowned night
heron and Osprey at Bellgrove rd. Pond monday evening .

Thanks
