Does anyone have directions to Travilah Serpentine Barrens, Audubon
Naturalist says it's just opened.

Chris Barnard

Chris and all,
I think a lot of us would like to know about this place. So all answers
should be sent to the list. I've never heard of this one. I hope they aren't
just renaming Soldier's Delight.

Speaking of which, I spent the morning traipsing around this
better-known serpentine barrens. Since today is July what better way to
spend a pleasant summer day than looking for a Summer Tanager. Found one.
Singing in the top of a serpentine barren tree. Or at least a dead one.
Also had a nice look at a fawn, probably only a few weeks old.
Other numerous singers included plenty of Towhees, Field Sparrows and
some Pewees. Also found 4 Prairie Warblers - all in Pine trees. Guess the
Prairie is becoming the new Pine Warbler. Ok, so what do we do with the old
one? Send it out into the prairie?
