Today after eating my early thanksgiving dinner I went birding at the
Pocomoke sand pits. I saw my first of year Redhead Duck. I also saw a Cooper's
Hawk flying low over the lake and then plunged into the water after a large
flock of Coots. On the first attack the Coopers missed but made another attempt
and succeeded. He took off out of the water with the Coot and flew into the
woods. I noticed that none of the Coots reacted to the Coopers presence until
it was to late. The reaction of all the birds in the lake near the attack was
of shock and confusion. I never saw a Coopers Hawk hunt over water before.
What a great Thanksgiving. gobble, gobble, gobble.
Birding forever
