While canoeing in the salt marsh on the Crisfield CBC, we stopped at
an unused duck blind. At the blind, we found 3 diamondback terrapin
shells, one in the blind and 2 next to it. They were fresh enough to
still have some odor about them. There may have been more - these
were just conspicuous. Later we remembered that there had been
eagles sitting on the blind earlier in the day, and began to wonder
if the 2 items were connected. Do eagles hunt terrapins? While they
are tasty, there isn't much there and it hardly seems worth their while.
