Hi all,

I know this is an 'out of area' report, but these parks are close to venture to. Didn't see anything too extraordinary, but worth mentioning:

Mason Neck: (note the Potomac was very much frozen out to the center w/patches of open)
  1 Common Merganser
8 Tundra Swans (resting on ice)
  20-30 Mallards, Gadwalls, Black Ducks
  50+ Canada Geese
  2 Bald Eagles
  4 Golden crowned Kinglets
50+ Red winged Blackbirds & Robins
Chickadees, Titmice, Nuthatches etc @ visitors center
  1 Winter Wren

Huntley Meadows: (Marsh frozen & open water frozen in patches)
  1 Red shouldered Hawk
  90+ Ring billed Gulls
  45 Canada Geese
  15 Mallards
  Common Crows
  Carolina Wren
  Song Sparrow
  Downy Woodpecker

  good birding,
  D.Ford/Bethesda
