Somebody asked me over the weekend at Sue's party - thank you all for a nice time - if we had anything on the lake here. I responded that there had been some Hoodies and Ringnecks until the evil clutches of winter had frozen the lake about a week or 2 ago.
Now that global warming has returned on this January day wherein I have the windows open, the Hoodies and Ringnecks are back. There is only a rapidly disappearing sheet of ice at the deep end of the lake and we may have hit 70 degrees here today.

As the warming continues, my biggest fear is that this summer that lake might actually come to a boil. If it does, the bass will already be cooked. Won't need to grill 'em.

Today's Carroll County Times has a cover story w/photo of David Smith and Barb Gearhart at the Audrey Carroll Sanctuary doing a winter count. They even give the results of the count. Now that's what I call news that counts for something.
