After spending several hours not seeing the Evening Grosbeak, we went back
out at 6:00pm in search of AMERICAN WOODCOCK at the ACLT southside trailhead in
Port Republic (Calvert Co.). There was brief activity between 6:05 and 6:10.
Two birds flew across the field, one to the north and the other south. Both
peented, the northern and much more distant bird for several minutes, along
with a little twittering. We stayed until 6:25 but the last 15 minutes were
quiet.
