I was camping at Assateague last Wednesday & Thursday and took in the
Timberdoodle show there. In spite of fairly heavy rain on Wednesday (which
turned to a pretty dusting of snow during the night), they were up on
schedule at 6 p.m. Thursday they were up from 6:05 til 6:20. One year I
recall them putting on a show til nearly 11, but not this time, even with a
bright moon. On Friday, I woke up to one peenting at 6 a.m. - sounded like
it was nearly on top of my tent.

Only other interesting thing was a stereo serenade of GHOs in the Forest
trail. They were going at it in early afternoon - not very Owlish.

Oodles of Redwings on the south end from Friday on - always interesting how
much difference a few miles (or is it the state line) makes.
