Thanks, Bobbi, for posting the departure of your Pine Siskins. Mine
are also gone at this time, but a few lingered a bit longer than yours.
Interestingly, May 5th, the day yours left, was the last day that 10 or more
were seen over here. On the 6th there were 2, on the 7th there were 3,
after that it was either 2 or 1 each day through May 16th. None on the 17th
through 22nd. Then one for a brief visit on May 23rd - and that was the last
one.
In summary, the Siskin saga started here on January 11th and was
continuous until May 16th. Between 10 and 20 were seen most days until May
6th. In prior years nothing but occasional sightings had been available.
This year they really took a liking to this place. I hope that at least a
few of them will choose to return to this site in future years.

Subject: [MDOSPREY] Common Nighthawks; Pine Siskins
Didn't think to post about the large number of Common Nighthawks I saw
recently until I began reading MD-Ospreys from the past two days where
sightings
were listed.
Friday night I was on a deck off of West St. in Annapolis and looked up and
saw at least 20 Common Nighthawks soaring around. It was 11:30pm and the
"city lights" were reflecting off of the white bars on their wings. They
were
stunning.
Also, I was asked by Les Roslund to post to the list the last day I had
Pine
Siskins at my feeders-for the record. It was May 5th. I waited to be sure
there weren't any lagging behind before I posted.
