I SUPPOSE THAT I AM OF AN AGE WHERE I CAN TALK ABOUT "THE GOOD OLD DAYS." IN MY POST YESTERDAY. I REMEMBERED A TRIP WITH RUTH AND OUR SON GEORGE TO SLAUGHTER BEACH THE LAST WEEKEND IN MAY AND BEING THERE AT LOW TIDE. THERE WERE HORSESHOE CRABS THAT BLANKETED THE FLAT, AT THE INTERTIDAL AREA, AND ON THE BEACH. ALSO ONE KNEW THAT SOMETHING WAS STRANGE AND UNTIL ONE COULD BRING THEIR MIND INTO FOCUS, ONE REALIZED THAT THE BEACH WAS NOT MOVING BUT THAT IT WAS SHOREBIRDS THAT COVERED IT. yesterday AT LOW TIDE THERE WERE NO LIMULUS AND NO SHOREBIRDS.

I TOOK A CLASS FROM DR. RAPPLIE AT THE UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND DURING THE 70'S. WHEN WE MENTIONED ENVIRONMENT CONCERNS, HE WOULD SAY THAT IT WAS EVOLUTION. IF WHAT WE SAW YESTERDAY IS A RESULT OF EVOLUTION, I AM THINKING OF CHANGING TO THE OTHER SIDE.
