The remains of an egg was found this afternoon under the nest which i reported as having lost a mate on 5/20/08 on the NIH campus. That would indicate the beginning of the first hatching - a good outcome all things considered. Two broods were produced from this nest last year. Amazingly or maybe not, a second nest was discovered recently not 3 linear feet (but on the opposite side of a concrete beam) from this one.
