Pine Siskins (22) and seven sparrow species were the highlights of birding
the Baltimore County side of Patapsco Valley State Park ­ Granite Area (near
Woodstock.) The Siskins were in an opening on the West side of the bridge.
They flew around this area making brief stops in Box Elders. After reporting
the Siskins to Steve Stanford, he joined me to try and relocate them. Just
as a train moved along the river another small flock (15) flew over. I had
to scream over the noise of the train to alert Steve and that must have
scared the birds... they did not land. Steve saw some birds; but they were a
little too fast to be confirmed as Siskins. This is in no way commentary on
Steve¹s excellent birding skills. :)

btw: we had another flock of possible Siskin an hour later at Powells Run
Road.
