Good news! The pintail is still in the CharlesTown area and has been
spotted at a different pond (one that still has water in it). Please
see below for the report and for new directions. Thanks to Carol
Del-Colle!

Subject: W-C Pintail now at Tuscawilla Hills Golf Course Pond as of 3:15 today
Greetings,
On the way to town this afternoon, I decided to check the
Tuscawilla Hills Golf Course pond right off Summit Point Rd. What a
surprise to see the White-cheeked Pintail swimming around there next
to a Canada Goose. I had seen the the Pintail several times at the
Huntsfield pond,so I knew right away what I was looking at. This pond
is not far from the Huntsfield pond as the crow flies or should I say
as the Pintail flies, so after what Matt said about the water being so
low at Huntsfield, the pintail must have sought a better place. After
I was done my chores in town, I went home by the way of Huntsfield,
and found very little water left. There were no birds at all in the
pond except one lone Killdeer along the edge.
Coming from CharlesTown take the Summit Point Rd. at the RT. 51
split. Follow SP road past Tuscawilla housing development. Soon
after you will come to a right hand turn into Tuscawilla Hills
development and golf course area. On your left you will see a pond
close to the road and one further away. The Pintail was in the near
pond and did not seem to be bothered by some golfers in the area.
With the cold front moving in I don't know whether he will decide to
stay in and weather the storm, or move on. He certainly didn't move
far this time. I guess he just likes it in this area. We certainly
like have him here.
Happy birding,
Carol Del-Colle
