As I was walking to class today at Frederick Community College a male Cooper's Hawk flew directly in front of me and landed on a short light post about 15 feet high. I was about two feet away from the post so I walked over to it. The Coopers allowed me to touch the pole and walk around the pole before flying off after abut 5 minutes. It flew about a foot off the ground then when it was what looked like a foot but was probably a little more away from the pole it did an almost verticle ascent to the top of the pole. Very cool. Its frustrating not having a good camera at times like that.
