For local color and atmosphere, and decent take-out pulled pork at 0930, we tried J's, the pink place on the left in Church Creek.

Last Saturday on our way to Blackwater after seeing the Trifecta in Cambridge, Lee and I planned to stop at Sub City at Snow's Turn for subs. Alas, Sub City is out of business, and we didn't realize Snow's Turn market made subs. So.......we remembered the little 'restaurant' in Church Creek that we had never had the gumption to try. We pulled in at 9:30 and they were open. We told them we were headed to Blackwater and needed takeout lunch. They were very accomodating and friendly, and put together 2 pulled pork sandwiches that were very tasty and not soggy 2 hours later. They also offer fried oyster sandwiches and codfish cake sandwiches in addition to the standard fare, although we didn't try those, and for the truely adventurous, they have muskrat on the menu for dinner. Local.

Good birding,
