A female Pine Siskin visited my thistle feeder this morning, a first for my
Bethesda backyard. In early afternoon, I visited Black Hills Park and found
at least three more Siskins (a male and two females seen simultaneously on a
thistle feeder) at the visitor center. The water was mostly frozen over, but
the few patches of open water held a fair number/variety of waterfowl - six
or seven different duck species. Another highlight was seeing two adult Bald
Eagles perched on snags across from the parking lot at the far end of the
causeway (near Boyds).
