Today Lisa and I went to Cambridge. We had excellent views of the male TUFTED DUCK from the public docks area at around noon. The only goldeneye we glimpsed was a female Common. A male Canvasback flying over the river, and a close in female, were nice, as were the handful Long-tailed Ducks and Surf Scoters. Acting on a tip from another birder, we went to the ?welcome center just west of Route 50 and saw the male EURASIAN WIGEON in the Choptank close to the shore, swimming around with a handful of American brethren or just by itself.

We returned to the public docks to play another round of Spot The Barrow's, but lost this one too as the biting wind we were facing into overcame our motivation to find a Barrow's Goldeneye. Fortunately we both saw the male in St. Mary's County in 1996.

On our way home we stopped for groceries, and I saw a PEREGRINE FALCON flying over the Whole Foods in downtown Silver Spring.

A nice day to be out and about.
