From 3:00-4:00 p.m. today, at least one male Red-breasted Merganser was
present, as well as the Red-necked Grebes. Numbers of Common Mergansers
were large, but I did not hazard a guess. Gulls were Ring-bills and
Herrings, and they were harassing the mergs. So it's possible that if gull
numbers increase, we could FINALLY see some of the more interesting gulls.
It was almost a decade back when there was a gull mugging situation at
Brighton Dam, when a Lesser Black-backed and a first year Glaucous appeared.
So keep an eye on those gulls!
