Chris Murray, Declan Haas and I did some brief winter birding around
Annapolis today.

Highlights include:

Thomas Point State Park:
NO Canvasbacks! In fact, the park itself was locked. So we left and
went over to...

Bay Ridge:
-12 Bonaparte's Gulls feeding, foraging and enjoying the surf on the
Northern-most portion of Bay Ridge (facing the Bridge). Then it was
on to...

Hillsmere Beach:
-Tundra Swans a plenty. I think Chris counted 80 or more. One had a
neck band: T-239. I'll report it's whereabouts later tonight.
-1 American Coot. FOY for AA County for us.
-In the distance, scoping towards Thomas Point we spotted the
Canvasback flock, thousands (2?) loading up the skyline and landing
back at their usual spot just near the entrance of TPSP.

Home:
The backyard was packed all day. The one Pine Siskin that has been
here all winter continued with the 14 Goldfinch. The feeder was empty
upon our return home. It must have been an off-day for the birds of
prey, as we had no raptors all day.

Good Birding,

Dan Haas
