Yesterday and today (evening) I had a few FOY "waterbird" species for my yard list (Laughing Gull, Bonaparte's Gull and Forster's Tern). All were on or over the Patuxent River (Jug Bay area).

3-29
GBB Gull 2, Herring Gull 5, RB Gull 43, Laughing Gull 7, RB Merganser 6, Hooded Merg 2, Common Merg 5, GW Teal 7, Canada Goose 10; plus 12/18 visible Osprey nest platforms are occupied already, and four that were not occupied have materials on them.

3-30
Herrring Gull 50+, RB Gull 13, Laughing Gull 1, Bonaparte's Gull 8 (all were feeding on something they were picking off the water, I think maybe some small insects?, plus resting a little occasionally), Forster's Tern 1 (full breeding plumage; feeding), Hooded Merg 3

Although it is quite cool tonight (about 50-52 degrees with 10-15 breeze) I finally heard my FOY Am. Toad chorus, and a few S. Leopard Frogs were calling too. I think they couldn't wait any more! I mention it because it is about 10-15 days later here than my FOYs for them in 2007 and 2008.

Cheers!
