On my way to DC today (tip: Do not go anywhere near the district when the
cherry blossoms are blooming) I stopped in Columbia to see the celebrity
sparrow. I got there 9:30ish and had no luck until Glen (we didn't do last
names), who has a nice Texas accent, showed up with a can of bird seed. He
sprinkled some under the feeder and with 15 minutes the Harris Sparrow was
scarfing down seeds beneath the finch feeder. We were on the bench just a
few feet away, so we had excellent looks at this pretty and big sparrow,
which was easily twice the size of the juncos.

Bonuses included two Pine Siskins showing quite a bit of yellow, lots of
Goldfinches, and a very vocal Brown Thrasher.

This was a life bird for me so it made my day.
