Hi all --

Such a beautiful day to be out -- we started at Hughes Hollow area, Mont.
Co., hoping for some migrants. Then on to Riley's Lock and last, Violette's
Locks in late morning. Some activity to be sure, though still early for a
lot to be happening. Maybe it's just a late spring...

Birds of particular interest:

Hughes Hollow:

Green Heron (2)
Great Egret (1)
Redheaded Woodpecker (1, adult)
Redtailed Hawk (1)
Red-shouldered Hawk (1)
Blue-winnged Teal (1)
Hooded Merganser (1)
Eastern Pheobe (1)
Rusty Blackbird (5)
House Wren (1, FOY)
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher (5, FOY)
Swamp Sparrow (1)
Chipping Sparrow (8)

Hughes Road, Polo Field:

Horned Lark (2)
Savannah Sparrow (1)

Riley's Lock (Seneca):

Bald Eagle
Bonaparte's Gull (16, on river)
Blue-winged Teal (5)
Eastern Phoebe (1)
Ruby-crowned Kinglet (2)
Yellow-rumped Warbler (20+)
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher (4)

Big surprise: No La. Waterthrush in any of their usual haunts.
Ditto no Palm, Parula or Yellow-throated...

(Leps): Spring Azure, Comma, Tiger Swallowtail

Violette's Locks:

Common Loon (1, spring plumage)
Bufflehead (3)
Lesser Scaup (10-12)
Horned Grebe (2)

(all on river)

Plus the usual suspects...
