Lower Shore (15 species of warblers) 4/19/09

Mikey Lutmerding and I birded the lower shore today.  We worked from
Blackwater area to Ocean City and back.

We started birding in southern Dorchester around 2am.  We spent most our
time in the marshes and were rewarded with many good birds.

Pied-billed Grebe

AMERICAN BITTERN -- 2
LEAST BITTERN -- 2

Virginia Rail
BLACK RAIL -- 4 different birds heard
Common Moorhen
BLACK-NECKED STILT -- 4 different birds heard
WILLET -- 2
Horned Owl -- 13
Barred Owl -- 2
BARN OWL -- 2
SHORT-EARED OWL -- 1 heard
SWAINSON"S THRUSH -- 4 flyovers
VEERY -- 2 flyovers
ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK -- 1 flyover

We decided to spend dawn in the Nassawango area of Wicomico and Worcester,
mostly working along Bear Swamp Rd and Sturgis Rd.  We saw/heard 15 species
of warblers and many other migrants.

We then went to Berlin where we found Jim Stasz and JB Churchill already
looking at the White-faced Ibis.  Other highlights present at the Berlin
flooded field on Rt. 113 include,

We then traveled to Eagles Nest and scanned the Assateague flats.
Highlights include,
