Highlights of the past two days (4/18 and 4/19) at the Patuxent/PWRC Central Tract, as a follow-up to my post from this past Thursday (4/16):
American Redstart (4/19) - at least 6 males singing in their gorgeous black and orange adult plumage. No first-year males or females seen yet.
Ovenbird (4/19) - 2+ singing
Prothonotary Warbler (4/19) - 1 singing
Yellow-throated Vireo (4/18 and 4/19) -- 1 singing (heard only) both days
Pied-billed Grebe (4/18) - 1
Bald Eagle (4/18 and earlier this week) -- 2, including a subadult with a white head and only some mottled white on the back and tail
Wild Turkey (4/19) -- 2 (a male fanning out his tail and displaying for a female)
Hermit Thrush (4/18-4/19) -- 1 each day
Eastern Phoebe (4/18-4/19) -- 3+
Also, on my way home this afternoon, I spotted a Gray Catbird -- I don't recall if we saw/heard one at Patuxent, but either way there's yet another FOY bird for me!
