Hi Everyone,
I just moved over Brooklyn near Church st. and started working on a new yard list yesterday . Im surprised that ive already gotten 3 birds that i never had on my old yard list( Morrell park ) after being there for 6 years . Those being Osprey, Eastern Kingbird , and White Egret . Guess that proves there really are neighborhoods that birds just dont like .16 so far for the total . Now for my Osprey story. Yesterday morning while watching out my new window at the park near Church street ( sorry dont know the name yet)2 Osprey flew in . there is a pond here about a block long and maybe one house wide that is fenced in with open area surrounding it . They both did a couple of dives and i watched to see if they were going to catch something in there and what perhaps could be in there . When one came up with something very bright orange. I hurried and got my binoculars on him thinking he got himself an orange bird . it turned out to be a fish flapping
around the size of a Baltimore Oriole . Now maybe im not a fishermen and this is common but i was shocked to see an orange bird come out of this little pond . My mother says it could be Carp ? that they are Orange ?I say it was someones pet Goldfish? Wonder how many more are in there ?Wow maybe next time i will sit out there and try to get photo .
