Jay Sheppard, Marcy Stutzman and I went railing Tuesday evening at Elliott Island. We arrived at 8 PM and drove the road in daylight and then started back after the sun set, stopping every 3-4 hundred yards in the "Black Rail Section" of the road. We had Marsh Wrens and Virginia Rails calling at most of the stops, Clapper Rail at one, and Black Rail at two stops.

On the way down in daylight we also had 2 Mute Swans, a Harrier harassing a Bald Eagle, a few Saltmarsh Sharp-tailed Sparrows and several Seaside Sparrows. In all we had 31 species. Mosquitoes weren't too bad.
