A friend emailed me the other day that he had seen Pied-billed Grebe in a small retention pond near BJ's in Bowie.  Yesterday, July 7, 2009, Jo Anna Lutmerding & I stopped there after work and confirmed that there was at least one young (stripe-headed) PBGR in the pond.  I don't know how many PG Co. breeding records there are for them, but this seems pretty exceptional.  I always thought those retention ponds must be good for something.
