The 7 of us had tough going in the rain and drizzle for the first hour or so, but the group was tenacious and good-spirited. The weather got better (finally), and we ended up having a pretty good day, with some nice birds. One big wave of warblers passed over us--for about 15 minutes, in high trees. Despite the height and the poor lighting, we were able to get nice views of many of the warblers. There was some activity in little pockets here and there. Overall, slow to moderate activity. After doing the Nature Trail, a few of us did a little birding around the cafe and had lunch there. Around 50 species.

Some of the birds:

Sharp-Shinned (cafe)
Cooper's
Broad-Winged
Red-Tailed (b/c it surprised us, flying before us)
YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO
YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER (cafe)
Pileated (cafe)
BLUE-HEADED VIREO
House Wren (cafe)
RC Kinglet
Bluebird
WOOD THRUSH
Brown Thrasher
Cedar Waxwing (cafe, a huge flock, great looks)
Parula
Chestnut-Sided
Black-Throated Blue
Black-Throated Green
Black-and-White
Redstart
Ovenbird
C Yellowthroat
Field Sp (cafe)
WHITE-THROATED SPARROW (cafe)
Indigo Bunting (cafe)
ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK

Very enjoyable time, very congenial group. Tim Houghton (Glen Arm)
