I checked other ponds in the Westminster area today but decided to pass on Cranberry Reservoir because I was there yesterday. After Mike Bowen's call this afternoon I went out again to see the Long-tailed Duck. Here is a rundown of all the ponds.
Westminster Community Pond - Canada Goose 26 (including one with both wings damaged), Greylag Goose 6 (several color varieties), Mallard 31 (including 3 breeds), Ring-billed Gull 3, Cedar Waxwing 60.
Study Road Farm Pond - Canada Goose 100, Mallard 21.
Union Mills Wetland - nothing notable.
Willow Pond - Canada Goose 50, Great Blue Heron 1, GREAT EGRET 1 (my latest is Nov. 25) .
Bennett Cerf Park - Canada Goose 69, Mallard 4, Great Blue Heron 1.
Cranberry Reservoir - Canada Goose 600 (including the same collared bird seen yesterday), CACKLING GOOSE 3 (they stayed together), Black Duck 3, Green-winged Teal 3 (there were other teal present but they stay hidden close to shore), LONG-TAILED DUCK 1 male in immaculate plumage that stayed on the back edge of the goose flock (rare migrant not seen every year in Carroll & the earliest fall record here, thanks Mike), Ruddy Duck 7.
