Posting for Steve Pretl:

The Montgomery Bird Club will meet this Wednesday, Dec. 16th. As usual, socializing will begin at 7:30, and the formal meeting at 8:00.

Paul Baicich will present "A Shade-grown and Bird-compatible Coffee Future."

Paul's summary: You've probably heard about the links between birds and shade-grown coffee. Some coffees threaten the lives of birds; some coffees can actually benefit birds. And millions of coffee-drinkers can make the difference. In this talk we will take a journey to visit vital points of intersection, a crossroads for birds, agriculture, and people.

Paul will explore the shade-coffee/birds connection, focusing on Latin America and the Caribbean and "our" birds which migrate to the Neotropics. You will leave this presentation with a greater appreciation of the issues and the ability to explain the coffee-and-bird issue to birding and non-birding friends alike!

Meetings are held at the Potomac Presbyterian Church at 10301 River Road in Potomac - just 1/4 mile past Falls Road. All are welcome.
