Common Eiders put on a nice show this morning. Two first winter males were
near the mouth of the inlet around 8:00. I later found a flock of 9 females
well down the inlet. Another birder spotted a Harlequin right out in the
middle of the inlet, but I was a little to slow getting out of the car, and
just missed it. I think it may have been a male. I later found a female
along to south jetty. Also showing were an immature male White-winged, and
a female Black Scoter. A lone Red-throated Loon was present outside the
mouth of the jetty.
And an adult Lesser Black-backed Gull graced the parking lot, allowing lots
of photos.
